not to gloss over the details but this movie contains arguably the best kissing in the rain scene ever.
its difficult to justify a movie that is unashamedly style over substance, great expectations succeeds though in every green hued frame of sad stares, sketches, and dishevelled perfection.

when i see this on the shelf at blockbuster i always wish i hadnt seen it 50million times so i could relive the first time experience. there are so many visual details and intense characters crammed into this under-rated movie yet nothing ever feels superfluous, the heaviness is kept in check with dark humour.
